The 2018 federal budget: not too exciting !

The 2018 federal budget presented today is not very exciting in terms of commodity taxes.

In fact, it announces some changes to the new measures relating to investment limited partnerships, increases the excise duty rate on tobacco products and the introduction of an excise duty to tax cannabis.

In addition, the Government has announced its intention to consult on the rules allowing a parent corporation to claim input tax credits to recover the GST/HST paid in respect of expenses that relate to another Corporation.
